Yes, I want you to see my bad ass kicks. And No, I dont want to get hit by a buss.
The times and its hyped colourings of sneakers are constantly changing, remember there was a time when we were laughing at the color palets of the 80’s? And then the 90’s? Then we suddenly started to digg the colours of the 80s and the 90s again. Much later when the revival waves came back they blessed all the haters with that 80s and later 90s cool ness again.
“Infact, there is nothing new in colours, its just about hyping combinations according to the visual over-over all landscape, or in contrast to it.”
In between as well as alongside the retro waves there are always new colorcombinations appearing on older silhouettes to give the old a sting of something new. Infact, there is nothing new in colours, its just about hyping combinations according to the visual over-over all landscape, or in contrast to it. So right about now, we have spinned the exciting colourwheel around and tried out expressive combinations in directions of humbleness, correctness, good taste, bad taste, the innocent, the guilty etc. and some how we landed in the exclamation mark!!!
“…some how we landed in the exclamation mark!!!”
Yeah! Lookout, see me, not more not less, just see me! These are the colourcombinations of safety, the roadside workers west or the subway workers doing god-knows-what in the deep dark tunnels. The clothing they wear in these situations are not about fashion or style in any sense, they are only made like this so they would get seen when you cant see anything else.
“Yeah! Lookout, see me, not more not less, just see me!”
So how does these exclamation marks of colour become interesting in fashion and footwear now? Well, one strong thought coming to mind is that we, as in always-online-ppl have never ever before been soo keen on attention as we are now. This attention is not connected to any real accomplishment or anything else than to get seen. If the term “I consume therefore I exist” was eccoing everywhere a few years ago, we are now in a period of “I want you to see me everywhere, therefore I exist”. The selfies, the selfie sticks, the social media, tha career races all hype to be seen. Mirroring our contemporary day, I find these colours really interesting. Somehow, they become a document of today.
